Dry Riser / Wet Riser System
Dry and wet riser systems are integral components of a building’s fire protection strategy, designed to supply water within the building for firefighting purposes.

Dry Riser System:
-
Purpose: Used in buildings where the floor is more than 10m but less than 60m above the ground.
-
Components: It consists of a network of empty pipes with outlets on each floor and inlet connections at ground level.
-
Operation: Firefighters connect to the inlet and pump water up to the necessary floor during a fire.
-
Maintenance: Requires monthly inspections and annual testing under hydrostatic pressure to ensure functionality.
Wet Riser System:
-
Purpose: Installed in buildings with a habitable height exceeding 60m.
-
Components: Similar to dry risers but the system is permanently charged with water.
-
Operation: Provides immediate access to water at the required pressure for firefighting on upper floors.
-
Maintenance: Like dry risers, wet risers need monthly inspections and annual testing to check flow rates and pressure.
